Running NYC for Tour de 4 — Help Me Go the Distance
Donation protected
On 2 November, I’ll run the New York Marathon — my first ever marathon, at the age of 68.
That sentence still feels surreal to write. In the last two years, I have recovered from two serious cycling accidents that left me with 27 fractures, and head and lung injuries. The human spirit is a wonderful thing, and I’m glad to be back to full health.
Running became my way back — not just physically, but mentally. It gave me a focus, a goal, and a daily reminder that we are more resilient than we think.
But this isn’t just my story. I’m running in support of someone who’s inspired me more than I can say — Sir Chris Hoy. Chris is facing stage four cancer with the same courage and determination he once showed on the track. His new charity, Tour de 4, raises funds for five vital cancer charities that support patients, families, and research.
Chris’s strength, honesty, and drive to turn his battle into something that helps others moved me deeply. I want to honour that — and do something hard, something meaningful — for all cancer sufferers. Let’s work together to beat this disease.
Every donation, no matter how small, will go toward a cause that touches so many of us. Please give what you can — and share the page if you believe, like I do, that resilience and community can change lives.
