I’m running the 2026 London Marathon from the Championship start as part of the Puma Project 3 team. It’s not a charity place, I worked hard to earn it, but I want this run to mean more than just a time on a clock.

My mother‑in‑law is in the final stages of Alzheimer’s. She’s still here, but the version of her we knew and loved has been slipping away for a long time. She was my wife’s best friend. She treated me like family from the start. She was the kind of person you always imagine was there in the big moments in life.

And she never got the chance to truly know her grandson, Blake.

That’s the part that hits the hardest. She would’ve been the most incredible grandmother the kind who shows up, who spoils, who always put others ahead of her. Blake will never get to experience that, and she’ll never get to recognise the little boy who would’ve meant the world to her. Watching someone fade while your child grows is a kind of heartbreak you don’t really understand until you’re living it.

So I’m running for the next generation of grandchildren. For the chance for them to have the relationships that Alzheimer’s has taken from ours. I’m raising money for Alzheimer’s Research UK because we need better answers, better treatments, and a future where this disease doesn’t steal people away from the people who love them.

There’s no fundraising minimum. This is just me trying to turn something I’ve worked incredibly hard for into something that might help another family keep hold of the moments we’re losing.
