Running in Memory of my brother William Sheridan

Dublin City Marathon for Mayo Roscommon Hospice in Memory of my Brother William Sheridan.
Hello everyone! You may know me, you may not but I'm Marian, I am running the Dublin City marathon on the 29th of October and would love to help raise funds for Mayo Roscommon Hospice in memory of our loving brother William Sheridan who passed away, surrounded by this family in July 2022.
William was born 6th of November 1990 and grew up on Altamount Street, Westport, William was a wonderful addition to a bustling house of three girls and was the jewel in the crown of the home. Born with an extra chromosome, it was a big shock, but very quickly we learned that this extra chromosome just meant that he was extra special.
At the age of 6 William started school at St Brid’s Special School in Castlebar where he attended until the age of 19 (I ran my first Marathon in 2006 to raise Funds for St Brid’s) and he later attended Carrowbeg Enterprises which allowed him to live a life of fun, independence and inclusivity.
Despite William’s mostly quiet demeanor, he was a fighter and fought hard to the bitter end. His illnesses through the years, may have caused others to despair and give up but that was not William. He lived every day of his life with great effort and never gave up. But unfortunately, his body gave up on him and with the help of the Mayo Hospice we were able to spend our last hours as a family.
Sadly, William passed away 15Months ago at the age of 31 years and in honor of his kind spirit and love for others I will be running the Dublin City Marathon in his memory and in support of the amazing hospice who cared for him and our family.
The Mayo Hospice went above and beyond supporting William when he needed palliative care. Our family were never without a hot drink or a sandwich and were supported by them after my brother had passed. Our family are so incredibly grateful for everything the Mayo Hospice did for us and if I can raise some money for them to show how appreciative we are, I'll have done what I wanted to.
Mayo Roscommon Hospice Foundation was founded in 1992. Before the Foundation was established there were no specialist services for terminally ill patients in Mayo and Roscommon. People were often sent home from the hospital, and many suffered difficult and painful deaths. In 1992, thanks to the foresight and dedication of a small group of people, the Foundation was established as a voluntary organisation to help provide Hospice/Palliative Care Services in the two Counties.
By supporting this fundraiser, you will be helping us as a family to celebrate the life of our beloved brother William and you will receive the satisfaction of knowing that you are helping support our local Hospice and help in the provision of Palliative Care Services in Mayo and Roscommon.
If you are in a position to donate to this fundraising effort, I appreciate every donation no matter the amount. If you are not financially able to donate, I would like to say thank you for taking the time to read this fundraising page and only ask if you could share this to help raise awareness for this fundraiser and of the amazing work the staff at Mayo Roscommon Hospice do for those needing palliative care.

Thank you very much for your time and wish me luck!
