We are running our Houston 2026 half marathon in honor of Miles Wertheimer, who passed away on October 19, 2025. As our friend Jackie’s dad, Miles treated us with extreme kindness. We were always welcome at the Wertheimer home, no matter how big or small the occasion. Whether it was for a study session in high school, hosting of a friendsgiving, the annual Hanukkah party, or just to hang out (sometimes for a “packing party” for Jackie), Miles was there, and he made our togetherness special. He always greeted us with a giant smile on his face, asking us questions about our families, schools and eventually full time jobs as we graduated from college. No exaggeration: Miles fed us more home cooked meals, snacks and desserts than we can even count. He was quite literally the best cook and dream dad! His generosity and hospitality touched our lives forever, and we miss him so much.

Together on January 11, 2026, Jackie Wertheimer and her friends will run the Houston half marathon. In honor of Miles, her friends wanted to give our friends and family an opportunity to recognize and honor in memory of Miles through sponsorship of our race. All proceeds will be donated to the Seven Acres Jewish Senior Care Services (https://www.sevenacres.org).
