On September 20th, I’ll be running the Swansea 10K to raise money for Tiny Tickers — a charity that means everything to my family.

My nephew Jack was diagnosed with a ventricular septal defect, a congenital heart condition that required open heart surgery at 6 months old. Watching my sister Vicki and her partner Adam navigate appointments, uncertainty, fear and ultimately handing their baby over for major heart surgery is something I will never forget. Tiny Tickers supports families facing diagnoses like Jack’s. They campaign for better early detection of heart defects in babies and provide vital support to parents during some of the most frightening moments of their lives.
