Running for The Survivors trust
Donation protected
Hi Everyone!
If anyone knows me, they’ll know I don’t run, at all. Cardio is my worst enemy, and if I can avoid it, I absolutely will!
I’ve decided that I want to raise money for the Survivors trust, this charity raises money and awareness to help those who have suffered sexual violence; something I have suffered too many times as well as thousands of others across the world.
Every five minutes in the UK someone experiences rape, attempted rape, or sexual assault. And that is only adults. 15% of girls and 5% of boys have experienced sexual violence by the time they are sixteen, and this is simply not good enough.
So what’s my story?
Something I have never ever openly spoken about before, I have experience assault a number of times, but by far the worst was by my own step brother when I was just 14. This happened more than once, I was so scared that I didn’t even shout for help. The home I was in at the time was extremely abusive and toxic, and I was terrified of no one believing me.
No child (or adult) should ever have to experience this, it’s terrifying, degrading, traumatic, and worst of all, it’s a complete taboo topic that people simply do not approach enough.
I can’t change what has happened to me, but if I can make a change to someone else, I will do my very best to do so! I was offered no support when I finally told my ‘family’ what happened to me, I was basically exiled, the black sheep, never to be spoken about again, and I want to completely change this so whoever needs help, can receive it.
I will be running a 10k on the 7th July 2024 to raise money for this amazing charity. I will be extremely grateful for any and all donations to help me reach my goal. If you can’t donate, then please please share, charities like this simply do not get the recognition they deserve.
I have given myself 1 month to prepare, like I mentioned before, I do not run! This will likely be the first and last time in 8 years that I will ever run long distance, so please take this opportunity to watch me suffer, sweat, probably cry a few times (and fall over at least more than once) for a good cause, and if you would like to join me, just feel free to drop me a message and I will send you all the details for the event!
Thanks so much for reading and following me on my journey
