Hello, my name is Rui and I’m the manager at Hailsham House Care Home. Every day, I have the privilege of supporting our incredible residents and seeing first‑hand how much joy, comfort, and connection truly matter in later life. Over the years, I’ve taken part in runs for different charities, including St Wilfred's hospice at the beginning of this year, but this time I wanted to do something especially close to my heart.

I’m taking part in the Hailsham Community Run to support our residents and our activities team with a garden project at the home. Our residents have so many ideas, hopes, and passions they still want to explore, and this project will be chosen by them, for them.

Our garden is a much‑loved space where residents can relax, socialise, and enjoy the outdoors, and this project will help create an even more enjoyable and calming environment that supports their wellbeing and quality of life.

Hailsham House is very special to me, not just because I’m the manager, but because I truly love the home and the people who live here. Taking part in this run is my way of giving something back to the people who make Hailsham House such a warm, happy, and caring place to live and work.
