Why I’m Running for the Mustard Seed
As a first-year student at the College of the Holy Cross, I have begun to think about what it means to sacrifice for another person. In the Jesuit tradition, after St. Ignatius suffered a traumatic injury and wasn’t able to be a soldier any longer, he was forced to sit in thought. He sought to deepen his devotion to God by practicing spiritual exercises that aimed to deepen his faith. As a student studying at a Jesuit institution, I have grown to appreciate the Jesuit sentiment of “men and women for and with others.” I realized I could help the Mustard Seed Community and the people they serve by raising money to help fund their work. My time volunteering there has reminded me that we are all good at heart and we need each other. My goal is to raise money for the Mustard Seed by running 50 miles from Worcester to Boston on April 28th. Your support would go a long way to helping me cross that finish line.
