Half Marathon for Mental Health
Donation protected
Hey my name is Gurvinder and I am running the Ealing Half Marathon in September to fundraise for Taraki Wellbeing, an organisation working with Punjabi communities to reshape approaches to mental health.
Sadly, we all know someone who has experienced mental health difficulties: whether it's ourselves, family members, or friends. Seeking help for mental health is never easy and from personal experiences I have seen how this is heightened within the Punjabi community. Within Punjabi communities, those living with mental health difficulties can encounter challenges from stigma to difficulty navigating health systems. This can sometimes lead to increased isolation and a lack of support, meaning that people aren't able to effectively find and access help.
Taraki conduct a range of work but what caught my eye was their focus on campaigning and raising awareness about mental health within Punjabi communities, in a way that is sustainable and equips people with the skills to set up their own support groups and positive spaces. They run some amazing campaigns, especially around men’s mental health, maternal health and on many other topics.
I am raising money for Taraki because I would like to break the stigma around mental health in the community and shape positive conversations. My aim is to raise £1,000 which will be used to support Taraki’s core costs so they can continue doing amazing work.
Please do all you can to help support this incredible organisation and I will do my best to get over the finish line!! I appreciate money is tight for a lot of people right now but I’d be really grateful for any donations or a share to raise awareness. However small it may be, it makes a big difference to the work Taraki can do.
