My name is Addie McCarter, and on November 1st I will join Team AFBS to run the TCS NYC Marathon for A Foundation Building Strength. Nemaline Myopathy is a rare muscle disorder that affects breathing, swallowing, and movement, and I am running to help build strength and hope for the individuals and families living with NM.
AFBS is the only organization fully dedicated to finding effective treatments for NM, and they are leading the charge with a historic $3.6 million commitment to advance gene therapy and clinical trial readiness. Knowing that 100% of donations go directly to research makes every step I take feel even more meaningful. I am proud to run alongside a team determined to turn miles into medical progress.
My training is more than a personal challenge. It is a way to honor the resilience of people facing NM and to push for the breakthroughs that could improve breathing, swallowing, and mobility for so many. Every stride we take raises awareness and moves vital research forward.
Please join me in supporting A Foundation Building Strength. Your gift, of any size, will directly fuel research that could change lives. Donate today and help Team AFBS race toward a future with effective treatments.
