On Sunday 24th May, four of the Ashton McGill team Kyle, Alasdair, Louise and Andy are running the Edinburgh Half Marathon to raise money for St Vincent's Hospice.
St Vincent's Hospice is an independent hospice based in Howwood, Renfrewshire, providing specialist palliative care to people living with life-limiting illnesses. They support patients and their families through some of the most difficult moments of their lives — with compassion, dignity, and kindness. Every year, the hospice needs to raise over £1.5 million just to keep its doors open, and they rely on the generosity of the community to make that happen.
This cause is close to our hearts. Our Operations Director, Jared Cordner, sits on the board of St Vincent's Hospice as Chair of their Finance Governance Committee. Through Jared, we've seen first-hand the incredible work the hospice does and the difference it makes to families across Renfrewshire and North Ayrshire. When we decided to take on the half marathon as a team, there was only ever one charity we wanted to run for.
We're not going to pretend we're seasoned runners(Alasdair aside, who genuinely enjoys this sort of thing), for some of us, 13.1 miles is firmly in the "what have we signed up for" category. But we'll be out there giving it everything we've got and knowing it's for St Vincent's will keep us putting one foot in front of the other.
Any donation, no matter how small, makes a real difference. Every penny raised goes directly to supporting the hospice and the families who depend on it.
Thank you for your support. It means the world to us and to the team at St Vincent's.
