In 2021 I gave birth to my son Rupert. He was born with a cleft lip, something we found out about at our 20 week scan. It was a shock and honestly very overwhelming we knew so little about cleft lip and palate at the time.
The first few months of Rupert’s life were the hardest times of our lives. Feeding him wasn’t easy, people stared or asked questions and navigating surgery and appointments felt like so much to manage. But we were incredibly lucky to have an amazing cleft team who supported us from pregnancy right through to now, four years later.
That’s why I’m running the London Marathon to give back because not every family has the resources or support that we had and every child deserves the care that helped us and Rupert!
I’m raising money for Smile train a charity that gives children born with clefts the chance to live, eat, speak and smile without fear. They support families who have little or no access to treatment by training local doctors to provide free, safe, lifelong cleft care. Their work doesn’t just repair a smile it transforms a child’s entire future.
Every donation helps no matter how big or small. It gives a child the chance at their first smile, their first bit of confidence, their first opportunity to eat and speak!
So I’m asking you, if you can, please donate, share, and support me on this journey.
we can make sure every child gets the smile they deserve.
