A few weeks ago my best friend, Kirsty, was diagnosed with a very rare type of heart cancer, a cardiac sarcoma and was given 7 months to live at the age of 28. Kirsty's the smartest and bravest person I know, she's now undergoing 6 months of chemo in the hope that her 6cm tumour can be shrank enough for an operation to potentially extend her life expectancy to 18 months. After living on the other side of the world for the last few years it has never felt more difficult and helpless to be away from home and my loved ones, Kirsty is trying to raise awareness of rare cancer types, their funding so I have decided to run the Mornington half marathon on 30th April for a charity chosen by Kirsty - Sarcoma UK, she's also documenting her journey on an instagram page: @healing_my_sarcoma_heart.
