Running for Resilience 2023
Tax deductible
For April, I'll be fundraising and running on behalf of Resilience, an independent, not-for-profit organization dedicated to the healing and empowerment of sexual assault survivors through non-judgmental crisis intervention counseling, individual and group trauma therapy, and medical and legal advocacy in the greater Chicago metropolitan area.
Why?
- Every 68 seconds someone in the U.S. is sexually assaulted
- Out of every 1,000 rapes, only 5 will be persecuted
- 8 out of 10 rapes are committed by someone known to the survivor
- 3 out of 4 sexual assaults go unreported
- 80-90% of sexual assault reports in Chicago do not result in an arrest; Law enforcement, particularly in Chicago, has staggering low arrest rates.
- Because I AM A SURVIVOR.
For every $200 donated, I'll be running 3 miles with a 15lb vest.
Why 3 miles?
This is in solidarity with the 3 out of 4 survivors whose assault is never reported.
Why the weighted vest?
The vest is a representation of the weight survivors have to carry every day.
Every donation no matter how big or small can go a long way in helping make a difference.
If you're unable to donate, please consider attending an event hosted by Resilience this month, or sharing this fundraiser with your network - every little bit helps, and goes such a long way!
Thank you.
