Hello, and thank you for being here

My name is Kristi Mitchell, and I live in Altea, Spain originally from Wales UK, having moved here from Wales with my two French Bulldog babies — Oscar and Bruce — to start a new life. Tragically, just a few months ago, both of my dogs passed away due to neglect in a local dog boarding facility which has now been shut down . They were left outside in the heat all day, and I lost them both. I am heartbroken.

In their memory, I’ve decided to run my first half marathon in 7 weeks to raise funds for a cause that reflects their spirit and love — Protectora Animales La Nucía, a non-profit dog shelter near me in Alicante.

Protectora Animales La Nucía is a long-standing shelter that rescues, rehabilitates, and rehomes abandoned and mistreated dogs and cats. In 2023 alone, they:

Rescued 710 animals

Found homes for 426 dogs and cats

Gave ongoing care to hundreds more

They rely solely on donations and volunteers to survive — and the work they do is incredible, but incredibly tough.

‍♀️ What I'm Doing

I’ll be running a half marathon in honour of Oscar & Bruce, and I hope to raise £1000 to support the animals still fighting for love and safety — animals who, like my dogs, deserve far better than what the world gave them.

i have no running experience and would like to push myself to do something i never thought id be able to do for my boys.

This run, and this fundraiser, are for Oscar & Bruce — my bestest friends, my soul mates, and two of the kindest souls I’ve ever known. Losing them so suddenly has been devastating, if you know me you know how much they meant to me and how i needed them way more than they ever needed me, but I want to turn their memory into something meaningful and push myself to do something super difficult.
