Running for Luna – Supporting Evelina Children’s Hospital

In November 2019, my world was blessed with a beautiful daughter, Luna.

She entered the world via emergency C-section and was diagnosed with a rare and life-limiting condition called Hypoplastic Left Heart Syndrome (HLHS) — meaning she was born with only half a heart, and a devastating life expectancy of just five years.

Since the day she was born, Luna has defied every expectation.

She has undergone 10 heart procedures, including open-chest surgery, in the hope of giving her the chance to grow, laugh, and live the life she deserves.

She’s endured pain that most adults could never imagine.

She’s faced fear, isolation, and endless medical interventions — and through it all, she smiles.

A radiant, unstoppable smile that reminds me daily of her courage.

My Luna is the definition of a Heart Warrior

Throughout our journey, Evelina London Children’s Hospital has been there, caring for Luna with unmatched compassion, skill, and strength. Their cardiology team and staff have supported not just Luna, but our entire family, through the hardest moments of our lives.

It is because of them that Luna is still with us. And for that, I am endlessly grateful.

So now, I run ‍♂️

I’m taking on the Royal Parks Half Marathon 2025, and every single step has meaning.

For every cannula Luna has had inserted —

I will train.

For every needle, every setback, every tear she’s cried in a hospital bed —

I will run.

I will endure the aches, the lows, and the brick walls — just like she has.

Because together, we are strong.

I do not know how much time we have left, but one thing I know for sure is without the efforts of the Evelina, Luna would not be with us today!
