Hey Pals! We have a group of us who will be running the Vancouver half/full marathon May 3, 2026, to raise money for our incredible friend Kirstin and her family, as she faces a colorectal cancer diagnosis.
A little bit about Kirstin:
Kirst is an oncology nurse, and man is she ever an incredible nurse - intelligent beyond measure, a patient teacher, empathetic, and so cool, calm and collected. What's more impressive than that though, is how she's also the MOST incredible mom, partner, daughter, and friend.
Kirstin is now facing her own cancer diagnosis, after years of taking care of patients on their cancer journeys. She was diagnosed with colorectal cancer June 25th of this year. She's currently 11 cycles into her chemo, and has shown strength and resilience that is quite frankly impossible for me to even comprehend. In the midst of feeling pretty awful 50% of the time now, she still manages to be everything for everyone. When I try to describe Kirst to anyone, I always fumble my words, and what's left is just "she's perfect". I've never been met with such understanding, and I truly can't explain how much I value her friendship, guidance, and support, even while she's going through more than anyone should have to.
It's also not lost on us that there is some irony in this, because Kirst absolutely hates running hahaha. Thanks for getting this far if you're still reading, and thank you in advance for any and all donations, you all freaking rock. We run for those who can't.
The funds from our fundraiser will go directly to Kirst and her family, as she is now unable to work, and will be used for future treatment options and family needs.
