Running for Hope: Supporting a Young Mother Battling Cancer

Kovriga Ganna, born in 1989 in Ukraine, immigrated to Canada and built a beautiful life with her husband, Stanislav, whom she married in 2015. Together, they have two young daughters, ages 4 and 1. Tragically, in late 2023, just months after the birth of their second child, Ganna was diagnosed with stage 4 breast cancer. Despite the overwhelming challenges, she continues to fight bravely with the support of government and private clinics, along with a carefully tailored diet. Ganna is deeply grateful for the love and help she receives from her family and friends, saying, "It is because of that support that I do not feel lonely. With them, I can face any challenge that comes my way."

However, the financial burden of her treatment and the demands of caring for two young children have placed immense strain on her family. To raise awareness and support, I will be running a marathon in October in Ganna’s honor.
