Hi, My name is Kevin Hall and I have Cancer. I’m a soon to be, 9 year B-Cell Lymphoma Cancer Survivor. But, in February I was diagnosed Stage 3C with a very aggressive form of melanoma. I have had 3 surgeries since February with the last one being just a month ago. On September 11th, I will be running in the Surf City Half Marathon for my 10th time. I have had no time or energy to train. You may think this is crazy, but I have not trained for the previous 10. And to add to the insanity, I just had a Chemo Treatment on August 30, just 11 days before the “Run”. I’m not looking to set any speed records, slow and steady to the finish line. My family has had a motto, that has been popular as of late, “Mind over Matter”. When I need to rest, I rest. If my nephews have a baseball, football game or go racing…. You will see me there with my big dumb hat and my long sleeve UV protected shirts, with tons of sun screen on, oh and my camera…. I’m not gonna lie, I’m going to be in pain for a couple days following the run. And I love it. I love showing people I’m okay, I like to say I’m not sick, I just have Cancer. The past 7 months were challenging with the surgeries, being in the hospital during Covid, going to physical therapy 3 times a week. I’m trying to get my body both physically and mentally back to work, I’m a restaurant manager and photographer, I love what I do.

So here is the ask, I’m asking my friends to donate $13.20, $1 dollar a mile. There are several charities that I would like to donate to, The Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, We Are Ocean, Hoag Hospital, Keck USC. I would also like to do something nice for the Nurses, Doctors and Staff at USC Norris Treatment Center in Newport for taking care of me the past 10 Years. And the same for the Nurses and Doctors working the 8th floor at Hoag Hospital in Newport Beach. They took such great care of me with genuine compassion for my well being and recovery. I’m not looking for huge donations. I’m actually looking forward to seeing $13.20 for each donation. I know many of my friends have had to battle Cancer or Battled Cancer alongside a loved one. I’m doing this to bring awareness, that there is hope during and after Cancer. So please if you can, please donate $13.20 if you can.
