Running For Black Women Business Owners

Tax deductible
I am the type of person that if told something isn’t possible, I work as hard as I can to see just how impossible it is. For me, debunking myths of limitations is my way of empowering not only myself, but also the community I serve.

As Black Women we are often told what our limitations are.

The only limits I have are the ones I put on myself.

In 2013 I shattered my kneecap. I had to have surgery and was told I would walk with a limp and would never be able to run for long periods of time.

So, I started to run for a long periods of time.

Not just for a long period of time, I started running half marathons.

I started running half marathon in different states. I have a goal to run in all 50 states.

In 2015, I was traveling to run one of these half marathons and missed my flight.

In an effort to make myself feel better, I went shopping. You know, get some retail therapy in.

I went to marketplace and it was here that I discovered what my real purpose is.

You see, I was the only Black Woman in the room. This led me to start blogging, which lead me to start a non-profit, a community and so much more.

So much more.

As a runner, running The New York City is a major goal.

This is one of my major goals.

So, to not only run this marathon, but to be running as a charity runner for a nonprofit I created because I missed my flight heading to run a marathon.

It doesn’t get more full circle than this.

I am grateful and honored to be running this marathon for Black Women Business Owners. To show them that we have no limitations. To inspire others that Black Women are so deserving.

To show the world that Black Women are living examples.

In addition to requesting your donation, if you are in NYC during the marathon, please consider volunteering with our community as well. We will be taking over Mile 16 water station and having a party on the pavement to celebrates all of the runners that are running that day.
