Some people come into your life and you just know they're going to be part of your story. When I met Alexa five years ago, I knew she was one of those people.
Lex is the kind of friend who brings people together, plans the get-togethers, checks in when she hasn’t heard from you in a while, and somehow gives the most thoughtful birthday gifts that make you feel completely seen. Her light is undeniable and if you're lucky enough to be her friend, you're constantly in awe of the joy and warmth she brings to everyone around her.
Two years ago, Alexa was diagnosed with a benign brain tumor and in December 2024, due to worsening symptoms, she underwent brain surgery to remove the mass. Since then, she’s been courageously navigating a long road of recovery, including intensive physical, occupational, and speech therapy. Alexa has approached this journey with strength, grace, and an unwavering spirit, but the recovery process is ongoing and challenging.
This December, I’ll be running the Honolulu Marathon in her honor. My goal is to celebrate her resilience, lift her up through every mile, and raise funds to support her continued recovery. Every run is for Alexa to show her that she’s not alone in this fight and that her village is running alongside her. If you feel moved to support her journey, please consider donating. Every bit helps with therapy costs, recovery resources, and giving Lex the space she needs to heal.
