Running for ACCT!

In September I'm running the Philly Distance Run half marathon. Running just to run is great, but this year I'm hoping to tie my motivation into something more meaningful.

I'm lucky that I have a dog willing to (sometimes) run with me. I get to see her experience that joy and freedom and know that when we run together, she's excited just to be along for the ride. And she's even more excited to have a bed to go home to afterwards.

There's too many animals in Philly who are hoping to experience that freedom and love but are still waiting for someone to take them home and give them a chance.

ACCT Philly is the region's largest animal care and control service provider, serving the City of Philadelphia by contract. ACCT Philly’s mission is to provide shelter, care and life saving efforts for homeless, abandoned, and abused animals and protect the health, safety and welfare of the citizens of Philadelphia, providing a benefit to all of the citizens of the City regardless of race or economic status.

They do the best they can to place the animals that arrive at ACCT in homes. They do their best to provide care and treatment to every animal that is abandoned, homeless, or surrendered. But it takes a lot of work and a lot of funds and a lot of dedication. It's often an uphill battle. But every single animal that comes to ACCT deserves dignity and respect and a second chance.

Join me as I collect funds and run for every creature that arrives at ACCT and for caring team at ACCT that do everything they can to save lives and give second chances.
