Hello, my names Sinéad and I’m running my first marathon to raise money for the RNLI, I appreciate so many people run this distance but it’s genuinely going to be such a huge challenge for me, but it’ll be worth it if I can raise any funds for a charity that is incredibly close to my heart. Over the past 15 years, the RNLI has supported my family through unimaginable loss. We tragically lost two uncles to the sea, and the RNLI played a vital role in helping us during those difficult times. They assisted in the search and recovery of my uncle’s body and continue to hold annual memorials, providing a space for us to honour and remember them.

The RNLI is made up of volunteers who risk their own lives to save others, their life-saving work depends entirely on donations. To put it into perspective, a single helmet costs £350, and a life jacket costs £590 – and that’s before factoring in the cost of maintaining and fuelling their lifeboats. Their work is essential, not only for families like mine but for anyone who loves the sea.

The sea is beautiful but can be incredibly dangerous, and the RNLI is there for anyone who needs them. By supporting this cause, you’re helping to keep their crews equipped and ready to save lives.
