I’m a children's doctor and researcher working with the Azaylia Foundation. Until recently, I was very much a “brisk walk only if absolutely necessary” kind of guy. Now, running at a pace comfortably overtaken by those with Zimmer frames and in a state that would elicit medical concern from passing members of the public, I’m attempting a half marathon. It's an excellent and worthy cause so please donate generously!
The Azaylia Foundation was founded by Ashley Cain and Safiyya Vorajee after losing their 8-month old “little lion” Azaylia Diamond Cain to AML (acute myeloid leukaemia) in April 2021. The charity was created to support UK-based children under the age of 17 fighting cancer by helping them access treatment not readily available from the NHS, while at the same time working with cancer research and medical institutions to accelerate the availability of new treatments in the UK.
