Hi, my name is Poppy, and I am aiming to raise £500 by running a half marathon in support of Amazing Grace Widows and Orphans Tanzania!
In the summer I volunteered at the district hospital in Monduli, Tanzania. During this time, I lived with Winny and her family in Monduli Village. Winny has the kindest soul, and she founded Amazing Grace Widows and Orphans to support the most vulnerable people in Monduli, as she was once vulnerable herself.
With the support of the church and donations, Amazing Grace has grown and flourished, now operating in 14 locations across Tanzania. Winny opens her heart and home to so many through her compassion and love, and I was truly blessed to become part of her incredible family.
This Christmas, I was in touch with Winny as she shared updates on life in Tanzania, her ongoing projects, and her family. Amazing Grace is currently building a safe house for rescued trafficked girls in Monduli, supporting widows and orphans, contributing to school funding for young children, and working with medical volunteers to provide outreach clinics to remote areas unable to reach the hospital.
Christmas is an especially busy and challenging time for Amazing Grace. Winny ensures that widows and orphans receive gifts of clothing and food, bringing dignity and joy during the festive season. However, without stable funding, meeting the needs of the community is difficult. The charity solely relies heavily on fundraising and volunteers.
Funds raised will help Amazing Grace bring hope, care, and joy to widows and orphans as they head into the Christmas period.I’m not a seasoned runner, so this challenge is by october to hopefully achieve some results in training, combined with the support fundraising to do Winny proud!
Thank you so much for your support
