Running a half marathon event every month at 40

Donation protected
Update: Monday 28th Dec

Yesterday I tackled my December half marathon challenge ‍♀️‍♀️‍♀️ It was a cold start but I was delighted to knock another few minutes off my time especially after alot of over indulging over the festive period!!!
Many thanks to everybody who has donated so generously for the 2 amazing charities - Louth Meath branch of Down Syndrom Ireland and The Down Syndrome Centre North East, to date over €1550 has been raised xxx

Update: Sunday 22nd Nov

November 1/2 completed this morning... it was a very cold & frosty start but a fab morning to run. For November, I should have been competing in the Clontarf 1/2 marathon, unfortunately they did not run a virtual option.
This month I Iogged 175.5km in training runs. I will be honest, at times I found it very hard to get up early & get motivated to run... the dark & dreary wet morning really dont help!!!
Roll on December for another half marathon challenge for 2 very worthy causes.... Louth Math Branch of Down Syndrome Ireland & The Down Syndrome Centre North East

Update: Sunday 25th Oct

Today was the day for my October challenge... The KBC Virtual Dublin 1/2 Marathon. After some route changes to stay within my 5k radius and county boundary and 225k of training runs done since September, I set off bright and early on a very windy morning. I found this 1/2 marathon much tougher than the last, both physically and mentally and surprised myself with a time of nearly 5 minutes quicker than before.
Roll on November for another lockdown 1/2 marathon challenge!!

Saturday 12th Sept saw the start of my year long challenge to mark a significant birthday
Many months ago, long before COVID 19 arrived, I challenged myself to run a half marathon event every month for the year that I am 40 to fundraise for 2 fantastic charities.... Louth Meath branch of Down Syndrom Ireland and The Down Syndrome Centre North East.
These 2 fantastic charities provide invaluable services to Harry and many others with Down Syndrome.

I had never ran this distance before, I was a happy 5k runner!! Lockdown started, training began and I signed up for my 1st three events
September arrived, I had completed my training plan and many of the events have gone virtual but I'm not letting that stop me

1st event was the Achill Island virtual half marathon and I am delighted to have it done & dusted... only 11 to go
Fingers crossed I can stay motivated, maintain the training and remain injury free for the next 12 months If anybody would like like to donate a few euro for these fantastic charities I would greatly appreciate it. All donations will be divided equally between both charities when I complete 12 half marathon events (1 every month) in the year that I'm 40!!

Thank you all xxxx
