Running 500km in 12hrs for The Monkey Tree Charity
The girls of Woodyer House are challenging themselves and their peers to run 500km in 12hrs on Sunday 4th May to raise money for The Monkey Tree Charity. This is a local charity that is aiming to raise funds provide age appropriate wheelchairs to children and young adults at the Bristol Royal Infirmary and Bristol Children's Hospital. We are super excited for this challenge and welcome any donations to support this fantastic initiative. Please see more information below from the charity themselves which explains their aims.
From the charity:
Our aim is to continually raise money for The Monkey Tree Charity. We will provide Children with terminal/life limiting illnesses who are staying at the Bristol Royal Infirmary, the Teenage Cancer Trust Unit and The Bristol Children's Hospital with age appropriate wheelchairs, to help maintain their independence at the hospital and at home.
The charity will also provide meal vouchers to be used at local cafes for these same children/young adults and their immediate families, so they can have a decent meal without worrying about the financial cost. Taking time off work when your child becomes seriously ill can put a huge financial strain on families at an already difficult time.
Our future aim is to continue fundraising to keep the charity up and running and to eventually provide other resourses including some family accommodation, a 'home from home' for those families with childen staying in the hospital. Also to expand our services across other hospitals to help as many chiildren as possible.
