My 2025 Chicago Marathon Journey: Running With Purpose
A message from Kenneth Williams
If you know me, you know I pour my heart into everything I do — from the food I create, to the experiences I curate, to the communities I try to build here in Charlotte. Cooking, running, hosting, connecting… they’re all extensions of how I show up in the world: with intention, with love, and with a desire to make people feel seen.
In 2025, I’m taking that same energy to a new kind of finish line.
This October, I’ll be running the Chicago Marathon, and I’m running it for something bigger than myself — I’m running it to support Autism Speaks through their TeamUp program.
Why This Matters to Me
Over the years, my life has grown into something rooted in service — feeding people, creating spaces
of joy, bringing communities together, and showing up where I’m needed. Running became an extension of that. What started as a personal challenge transformed into a journey about discipline, healing, purpose, and community.
And now, I want my miles to mean something more.
Autism affects so many families — families I’ve cooked for, worked with, taught, and built relationships with. I’ve seen firsthand the importance of resources, support, and understanding. I’ve seen how much representation, advocacy, and community matter. Running for Autism Speaks allows me to contribute to that impact in a way that goes beyond my everyday work.
This isn’t just a marathon.
It’s 26.2 miles of honoring the families who fight silent battles.
It’s for the parents navigating the unknown.
It’s for the kids discovering their voice, their gifts, and their place in the world.
It’s for the adults on the spectrum who deserve compassion, opportunity, and support.
I want every step to reflect that purpose.
