Scout Leaders running Manchester 10k for charity.

Donation protected
Hello! We are leaders from the North Manchester Explorer Scout Unit, and on May 18th, 2025, we’ll be taking on the challenge of running 10km in the Great Manchester Run.

We’re doing this to raise funds for charities that hold a special place in our hearts and those of our Explorers. Below, we’ve shared the stories behind each charity we’ve chosen to support. Thank you for taking the time to learn more and for any support you can give!

The UK Sepsis Trust
We've chosen to support the UK Sepsis Trust in order to raise awareness of an issue that can affect anybody at anytime. Sepsis is a life-threatening condition triggered by an infection. Early recognition is crucial for survival as prompt treatment can significantly improve outcomes. The Trust's work in raising awareness, offering support, and lobbying for change is something we deeply admire and want to help further following the death of one of our leader's uncle in early 2024.

Royal Manchester Children's hospital
Royal Manchester Children's Hospital provides specialized medical care for children. As a Manchester-based Scout group, we understand the vital role the hospital plays in supporting young people and their families in our community, ensuring they receive high-quality, compassionate care during critical times. Their incredible care and dedication inspire us, and we want to give back to a cause that directly impacts the lives of children and teens like our Explorers.

Leeds Children's Transplant Team
We want to raise money for the Leeds Children's Transplant Team because they provide life-saving care and specialized treatment for children in need of organ transplants, offering hope to families during incredibly difficult times. Their expertise in pediatric transplants not only saves lives but also improves the quality of life for many children. One of our own scouts has personally received a life-saving transplant by this incredible team, so we’ve seen firsthand the difference their work makes. By donating, you can help ensure that more children receive the treatment they need.

1st North Manchester Explorers
We are also fundraising for our explorers unit. Our unit in Blackley, Manchester helps young people aged 14 to 18 in an area facing economic challenges, where opportunities for personal growth and development can be limited. By fundraising for our unit, we aim to provide these young individuals with experiences and skills that will help them build confidence, leadership, and a sense of community. The Scouts offer a safe and supportive environment where they can learn life skills, take part in outdoor activities, and develop a sense of responsibility and teamwork. Your donation helps us continue to offer these valuable opportunities to local youth, empowering them to reach their full potential and make positive contributions to society.
