100km Run for Bowel Cancer Australia

To my friends and family,

As we dive into the new year, I've decided to take on another epic challenge, building on the momentum from my Ironman journey back in 2019.

This time around, I'm dedicating this feat to the incredible Lipton family and honouring the memory of Tamara (Tom) Lipton.

(Written by the Lipton Family)
In January 2020 Mum/Tom was diagnosed with metastatic Colorectal Cancer (stage 4 bowel cancer). She fought an incredible battle for just over two years, going through countless bouts of chemotherapy and a lot of non-traditional treatments for her cancer. Whilst dealing with the impact of COVID-19 (as everyone was), she always had an unbelievable attitude towards her sickness and continued to be so family-oriented and driven in her hope to beat this awful disease. She hated to be seen as an inspiration to others, but to her husband, children, family, friends and wider community (through her Instagram account, My Crazy Bowel), she was nothing other than that. In early March 2022, bowel cancer got the better of her. Whilst this disease took so much away from mum/Tom, it also robbed her family and friends of so many opportunities and future times to spend with her. Think of mum/Tom as a motivation to ensure you get yourself checked for bowel cancer every two years, and utilise the resources that our great healthcare system offers. We miss her every day.

Come May 5th, I'll be tackling the monumental task of running 100 kilometres around Caulfield Park, which translates to a whopping 45 laps. And why? Because I'm on a mission to raise funds for Bowel Cancer Australia.

This cause is especially close to my heart. Back in 2019, I dedicated my Ironman efforts to Bentley Klein, who bravely faced the challenges of bowel cancer.

The stories of Bentley and Tom serve as powerful reminders of strength and resilience in the face of adversity. Now, as I gear up for this new challenge, I invite you to join me in making a difference. Let’s rally together and make bowel cancer a thing of the past.

Your support means the world to me and the Lipton family, and together, we can create a lasting impact.
