Runnin’ for Hoffy - In Memory of Jason Hoffmann:
On November 1st 2016, the world came crashing down around my sister and my family. It was a Tuesday just like any other Tuesday, a sunny and hot November day in South Louisiana. My sister heard a knock on the door and slowly walked towards the news that would forever change her life. A Mandeville Sheriff had the thankless job of telling my sister that there had been a terrible accident in Sorrento, and Jason would not be coming home.
Jason and Alison met at Lafitte’s Blacksmith Bar in New Orleans on Mardi Gras Day. A day and joyous occasion that was truly fitting for this amazing couple. A deep relationship quickly ensued, and they were married on May 30th, 2015. Thier love was infectious and easy to spot form across the room. I remembering hearing the two them laughing and enjoying each other at all times, day or night. It was true love! I have no doubt.
They just bought their dream home on the Northshore in Mandeville Louisiana in June. Shortly after the purchase on July 15th 2016, they welcomed their son, Blake Alexander Blondeau, into the world. Blake was the light of their lives, and Blake’s eyes and smiles are now a constant reminder of Jason and the love that Alison and he shared. I luckily talked to Jason the night before his death, and our two hour conversation involved him telling me about how much he loved being a dad. Jason told me that when Blake smiles at him, the world just stops for a second. He said he couldn’t wait for our boys to grow up together and teach them how to fish Lake Pontchartrain. It pains me that he will be unable to fulfill these dreams, but I know that there is an army of friends and family that will make sure these dreams come true for Blake.
I will be running the Louisiana Half Marathon on Sunday January 15th 2017 in honor of Jason, Alison, and Blake. I will be raising money for Blake’s education fund, and all of the funds that are raised from this site will go directly to Blake’s 529 plan. I want to make sure he will have any and all the opportunities in this world available to him! My family and I truly appreciate any and all support that is shown for Alison and Baby Blake. No donation is too small! There really isn’t anything anyone can say to Alison, but there are things you can do! I am running this race in honor of them, and I will honor Jason the rest of my life by being there for Alison and Baby Blake.
