Running in Memory of Tyler
Donation protected
On October 4th my Mom, Kathy and I will be running the Maine Half Marathon in memory of my cousin, Tyler. Most of you probably know that Tyler passed away this past Christmas in a car accident in Florida. Tyler was ambitious, passionate, loved to travel and loved his two golden retrievers, Buddy and Bodie, but most of all he was full of life and adventure. In his 22 years on this earth, he lived and loved more than some people do in their entire lives..and our family misses him so much.

We started a memorial scholarship fund at Norwich Free Academy in Connecticut where Tyler went to high school- this past spring the money we raised helped a high school senior with a passion for the environment/studying abroad to go to college. Our hope is that through this scholarship Tyler's legacy can live on.

We are running this race not only to raise money for Tylers scholarship, but also to promote a legacy and lifestyle he has left behind. Running a half marathon has been on our bucket list for a long long time, but we have always had a thousand reasons not to do it- too busy, too tired, too hot to train in the summer..etc etc. But when I think about Tyler, I see him tagging sharks in Capetown, Africa, spending his summers traveling all over Central America, laying on the beach in Florida, buying his first puppy... the list goes on. And what I realize is one of the most important things he has left us all is a legacy to continue- In his 22 years on this earth, Tyler LIVED with passion and adventure, and there is nothing better that we could all do to honor and remember him than to live our lives the exact same way.

So if you can consider donating to help us raise money for Tyler's memorial scholarship fund we would really appreciate it! But more importantly, think about your own personal bucketlist and something you have wanted to acomplish, and in memory of Tyler and his upcoming 23rd Birthday on October 14th, get out there and do it! Life is an adventure, and there is no better way to carry on Tyler's legacy than to live that way.
