A Run for Nick: 2018 GA Marathon
Donation protected
On August 28, 2017, my brother, Nicholas Adam Blakely passed away due to Sudden Cardiac Arrest (SCA). While at practice for the Stetson University football team, Nick suddenly collapsed and stopped breathing. He was only 19 when he died; however, he accomplished much and touched the lives of so many for the short time he was with us.
On March 18, 2018, I will be running the 2018 Publix Georgia Marathon in memory of Nick. The 26.2 mile race is an Atlanta tradition, in its 12th year. Donations that result from this campaign will go to the foundation started in his honor, Smiling Hearts.
Smiling Hearts: The Nick Blakely Foundation is an organization dedicated to bringing SCA awareness to parents and children, athletes and their coaches and trainers, and athletic associations and educational institutions nationwide.
As part of its mission, the foundation provides academic scholarships to students that exemplify the characteristics that embodied Nick, who he was, and everything for which he stood. This includes exemplary academics, community leadership, Christian values, and a passion for competition.

My marathon training is in full swing; and I'm using Nick's competitive spirit as my inspiration. Thanks in advance for your support!
