As you know, I have set a goal this year to run my first marathon in October. Now, I have another goal set, one that is far more important than anything on my bucket list.
My Auntie Betty , as I fondly call her, is my Mom's first cousin. She helped taking care of me when I was growing up. She was a high school teacher, which explains her caring and nurturing nature. She never married and didn't have kids of her own but I'm sure she treated me and her other nephews and nieces as her very own.
My Auntie Betty, who lives in the Philippines, has been diagnosed with colon cancer stage 4 and it has spread. Prognosis is not optimistic. She will need treatment which means she will need financial help. She is retired from teaching and unfortunately, has limited financial status.
It's my turn to help the woman I love dearly. It's my turn to show my appreciation for her. I am raising funds by running the 10K at the 5th Annual Napa Valley Silverado Half Marathon on Sunday, April 17th, 2016.
I have set my goal at $1000. I know couldn't do this alone. I would ask you my dearest family and friends for your love and generosity to help me meet this goal. Any amount that you can spare would be greatly appreciated. All proceeds will go help pay for her treatment and care.
I always believe in you, my family and friends. You have proven to be reliable in times of need and I will not doubt for a minute that you will prove me right once again. In return, I promise to complete my most important run yet. Thanks so much for your support.
