Runa's Legacy - Securing a Future For Her Children

"Verily we belong to Allah, and verily to Him do we return."

On Thursday, March 25th, our beloved Runa transitioned to the eternal hereafter after a 3 month-long battle against Covid-19. She was 44 years old, a wife, a mother of three young children, and a teacher’s aide in an elementary school. She and her husband, immigrated to the United States from Bangladesh to ensure a stable and nurturing future for the family they wanted to build. Having made the difficult choice to leave their homeland and network of family support, they struck out together, dedicating themselves to work and education, pursuing the promise of America. Runa cared for their three children, their home, and their livelihood, shouldering the innumerable responsibilities of wife, mother, and special education teacher. 

Runa understood the value of education and dreamed that her children would have the opportunity to attend college. With her illness, the family lost her income, and with her untimely passing, they have lost the heartbeat of their home and the fulcrum of their family.

To honor Runa’s legacy and push forward her dreams for her children, please give to this education fund so that Rayyan (12), Rasmiyah (9), and Rafan (7) will have the financial security required to pursue their college ambitions. Friends, family, and members of the community have generously provided food for the family, and we ask that in lieu of further gifts of food, please contribute to this higher education fund in Runa’s memory and aspirations for her children.

The funds will be given to Runa's husband, Abu, who will create 529 college savings accounts for each child.
