I am the proud principal of the John F. Kennedy Elementary School
in Jamesburg, NJ. As with many schools, our budget is tight and we need resources and equipment to prepare all 520 of our precious children to succeed in work, life, and citizenship. They deserve it!
Since becoming the leader of JFK almost 3 years ago, I have been dazzled by my kind-hearted, promising students, but dismayed by the lack of progressive materials and funding available for them. What can one principal do to help? I am passionately committed to procuring the materials my students need to maximize their learning opportunities in any way I can. That’s why I’m running a marathon on April 30, 2017!
It is my hope to raise enough funds for at least 50 Google Chromebooks for my amazing JFK superstar students. This will be my very first marathon, so I’m super nervous, extremely excited, and have been training hard!
JFK Elementary School is made up of a diverse group of learners, many whose families struggle financially. That being said, our students are held to the highest standards. The JFK teachers and I are committed to providing best practices in education for our preK-fifth graders, but we need your help. The teachers engage in small group instruction, providing direct instruction for the students. When the children are not working directly with the teacher, they play learning games, write and read independently, solve math problems, collaborate on projects, perform scientific investigations, and listen to stories online, to name a few. In order to accomplish all this and rival the resources provided in other school districts, we need more Chromebooks.
As you know, to be effective in the 21st century, children must develop skills to help them create, evaluate, and effectively utilize information, media, and technology. Chromebooks will greatly aid the JFK teachers and students in accomplishing this goal so that our JFK learners get a fair shake. Our kids deserve it!
Thank you so very much for taking the time to read this. Your donation, no matter how big or small, will make a huge difference in the lives of our eager, vibrant, youngsters!
With much gratitude,
Please "like" the Run All Day for JFK
Facebook page (or at least check it out!) It chronicles my training and preparation for the marathon. You'll see my JFK superstar students featured sometimes because they're the reason for the run! Thank you again and again!
