Run For Elsie

I am the Mother of Elsie Mireya Gonzalez Commodore. She is my miracle baby. I have a beautiful 7 year old. I prayed so hard for God to send me another child (after 4 losses) and he sent me my beautiful Elsie. I had a blissful pregnancy, but at 32 weeks my world was shattered. Elsie was diagnosed with Congenital Chylothorax. On any given day she will leak 2-3 liters of lymphatic fluid into her little chest comprising her respiratory function and requiring a very complex replacement fluid strategy. Her disease is extremely rare and hard to cure. We continue to HOPE and PRAY for a miracle. For the last 10-months or so, Elsie has lived at The Children’s Hospital of Philadelphia (CHOP). My family has also been separated for this time. My husband and I take turns being with 1 child at a time - splitting ourselves between Philadelphia and Charlotte. In anticipation of Elsie’s 1st birthday I have decided to do something special. I am running a 15K (9.3 miles) in Philadelphia on April 7th. I am running for Elsie - because she fights for her life every day and she deserves a healthy Mami. I dream of seeing Elsie at the finish line. I am asking that you support my Run for Elsie campaign so that I may pay her hospital bills (which have already surpassed the $5,000 mark since the start of the New Year).
