*Update*
Phase note that Jason has noted these funds will be going directly to Feeding SW Virginia so they can be sure each penny goes directly to the people of Damascus (and neighboring communities) in need.

The Appalachian mountains are home to the Yeti Trail Runners and through Jason Green, hundreds of people have come to know and love the Creeper Trail and the neighboring communities nestled within these mountains.
For years now, Damascus (among other towns) has welcomed the yetis with open arms. And we are thankful for the chance to experience the beauty of this area and the kindness of those who live there.
On Friday September, 27th, the annual Yeti 100 mile race was to begin. Wandering between Abingdon, Damascus, and Whitetop, the OG Yeti 100 has taken many a runner on one of the most magical and life altering experiences of their life, much of that due to the experiences had in Damascus.
Unfortunately, this year, Hurricane Helene had other plans. Mother nature showed out and ripped her way through dozens of communities, starting in Florida and devastating towns up through the Appalachian mountains.
Among others, Damascus recieved an incredible hit and was completely flooded before the afternoon. Much of the creeper trail covered in water and down trees. Power out in the entire community. Entire homes swept away in minutes.
Thanks to the local and neighboring first responders, lives were saved but they have been forever changed.
Damascus has always been called home of the Yeti. And it is time that we put our money, time, prayers, good vibes, and everything in between, where it matters most, directly into the hands of the people of this community. Our hearts break for Damascus and the Appalachian people.
For those who'd planned on another epic yeti adventure this weekend, there's still time. Let's Run Where We Are For Damascus, and if you're able to, please donate so that we can give back to a community rebuilding.
We understand that you might not feel comfortable donating through a Go Fund Me. If so, please also feel free to donate to Feeding Southwest VA: https://feedingswva.org/
