Help Lauren O'Sullivan with her fight against Leukaemia!
Lauren is the wife of a good friend of ours, Shane O'Sullivan and mother to Aiden (12), Maddie (10) and Cooper (8). They are a well known and respected Stockton family who are doing and continuing to do it tough in these uncertain times.
Lauren was recently diagnosed with Acute Myeloid Leukaemia (AML). She has always been a keen runner and had started her struggle with anything longer than a couple of hundred metres. After visiting the doctors for a routine check on Saturday just a a few weeks ago, blood tests confirmed Lauren's diagnosis and she was sent to have her first round of chemotherapy on the following Wednesday. Due to her age and high level of fitness, her chemo is of a high dosage, where she will get chemo for 7 days straight, followed by a further 21 day stay in hospital. After a week at home, Lauren will return to do it all again.
This will be the norm for Lauren for the next 5 months as she will require a bone marrow transplant at Westmead Hospital, Sydney. After the transplant, she is required to stay in hospital at Westmead for a total of 100 days in isolation as she will have no immune system.
This long and ongoing process is predicted to have a significant financial impact upon Shane and the family, as he will have to take time off work to be by Lauren's side during her stay in Sydney.
Any donations, big or small, will be greatly appreciated.
