Run Through the Dark: 9.3 miles for Suicide Prevention
Donation protected
September is National Suicide Prevention Month, and as someone who has battled depression and even the deepest darkness of suicidal ideation, this year I want to be a part of spreading the light.
I will be running three 5k races over the next three Saturdays. Each race is connected to an organization that brings awareness and aids in the prevention of suicide.
On August 31, I will be running the Centerstone Life;Story Virtual 5k https://centerstone.org
September 7, I will head to Grayslake for the Lake County Suicide Prevention Task Force 5k
September 14 will be the Suicide Awarness Virtual Run, with donations going to the American Foundation for Suicide Prevention
Please consider joining me in supporting this cause. And no, you don’t have to run! I’ve created a GoFundMe (Running Through the Dark) to raise money that will then be evenly distributed to these three organizations.
As a suggestion, you could give $9.30, the same number as the miles I will be running.
I have also written an essay describing a bit of my own struggles with depression and thoughts of suicide, as well as the joy, hope, and power I believe we have from the great Giver and Protector of Life. You can find that at my blog Whim & Wit.
Thank you for supporting me and all those who are in this fight against the darkness!
