Run the 1 (Rwanda 2025)
Tax deductible
Another year, and another year to run for the school fees and daily support for some amazing vulnerable youth in Rwanda. A lot of you may know our story so far, so please excuse the next couple of paragraphs if you do. Also, thank you for being here.
Ubaka U Rwanda is a home for street children in Rwanda and has been going strong as a home since 2008. It is run by Evode and Becky who married in 2010 and are the parental figures of some 20-30 kids at a time. When children enter our home, they are offered the opportunities every kid deserves. The kids have a roof, a warm bed, plentiful food and water, education, medical attention as needed. Most of all, they receive a family that will not abandon them, who treat them with love and support.
I had the honor of meeting them in 2010 and have never been able to not support my 2nd family since. I run the US charity of Ubaka U Rwanda. Each year, since 2011 I have ran in some capacity for the kids. There have been many folks who have joined from all over the world. This year, we will return to Rwanda in late June and do it again. While that sadly leaves out so many of our friends elsewhere in the world, it does involve the kids which makes it extremely special.
I will be writing a blog soon to give more details on the trip. For now, due to weather, I have not decided on the exact date I will run, but I will update as it gets closer in late June. I will run a marathon that day in honor of the kids. Donations will go directly to their school fees for their 2025/26 school year. The remaining money if gathered will help continue our day to day operations each month, which is GREATLY needed as well.
We are well over a decade into doing these fundraisers. It is not lost on me on how amazing it is, so many of you have been so generous over the years. I can promise you, fundraising is not the part of my Rwanda trips I enjoy. However, I know of no other way to support these more than deserving kids. I can't thank them and all of you enough. Stay tuned for more. Thank you for your kindness, support, and love.
