Run Off the Road by a Stolen Car and Motorcycle Totaled on the Day Before I Start Substitute Teaching Over 40 Miles Away.

Hi, I'm Andrew. If we're close, then you know I've got terrible luck with vehicles.

This time, my bad luck manifested very suddenly and catastrophically.

A stolen car with a smashed-in windshield, massive body damage, being chased by a police helicopter ran a red light at very high speed and came straight at my motorcycle as I was crossing the intersection.

To avoid a grisly death by crushing, I was forced up onto a curb and the bike bottomed out.

I managed to stay upright and avoid the stolen car, which swerved at me again after skidding through a crazy right turn, but my rear tire started slipping and sliding like mad.

I pulled over as soon as I could and saw that the slipping was due to engine oil coating the tire. Bottoming out had cracked my engine case, and I was dumping oil rapidly.

This bike is now totaled. Between buying and readying it for daily use, I put around $2600 and several hours of work into it over the past couple of months.

I start a new job substitute teaching tomorrow. I was already stressed out for my first day in a classroom. For now, with enormous, unsustainable effort, I can use public transit to get to work, but it will cost about half as much as I'll earn for the day. I was also recently hired by two other school districts on the peninsula, but I will have to quit both of those jobs without transportation.

A close friend suggested this and persuaded me to try it.

Any funds I receive through this campaign will go toward getting another motorcycle or cheap car as soon as possible.
