Taking on My Biggest Challenge Yet

For the last few years, I have set myself an endurance challenge, and this is the biggest to date. On April 11th, 2025, I will be running from Galway to Dublin—approximately 210km—finishing at the Grand Canal Dock in Dublin city.

Inspired by My Brother James

My challenges each year are inspired by my eldest brother, James, who sadly passed away in 2021 following a brave battle with cancer. During his illness, we would take walks to help build his strength, and he would always ask about my runs in the mountains—he promised one day he would join me. After his passing, I, together with my wife and some friends, ran 11 marathons in 11 weeks, one for each letter of his name, leaving a small token at each finish point in his memory. This year, as I reach the age James was when he passed—and as it would have been his 50th—it feels right to go all out and make this the biggest challenge yet.

Who I’m Fundraising For

This endurance run is not just about pushing my limits—it’s about making a difference. All proceeds raised will be split between two causes that mean a great deal to me.

Supporting Ryan Curtis in His Road to Recovery

The first half of the funds will go to Irish MMA fighter Ryan Curtis, who sustained severe injuries in 2023, including a broken back, broken neck, and a dislocated spine, leaving him unable to walk. Ryan has made incredible progress, but the treatments and therapies he needs to regain mobility are costly. This donation will go directly toward helping him access vital care and rehabilitation.

Helping Families Affected by Cancer

Having lost James to cancer and witnessing firsthand the financial burden it can bring, I want to support families facing similar challenges. The other half of the funds raised will be distributed directly to local families dealing with the devastating impact of cancer. My brother had six weeks of sick leave from a job he dedicated his life to, but many others do not have this support. By easing some of the financial strain, I hope to make a difference for those in our community navigating this painful journey.
