Run for the Yuen's
Donation protected
Hi, my name is Angus and I am setting up this fundraiser to try and help my friends, the Yuen family, through Todd’s recent diagnosis with Leukaemia. In February 2022, the Yuen family moved into my house and have since welcomed their baby girl, Abby. Since meeting Todd and Kelly I have seen how kind, generous, and caring they are.
On January 3, 2023 Todd was diagnosed with acute lymphoblastic Leukaemia. After feeling under the weather with a lingering cough for some time, he decided to get checked out and that was when their family was given the news that no person expects to hear- you have cancer.
With two young children at home, and Kelly still on maternity leave with Abby, you can imagine the great burden this has put on their family, both emotionally and financially. It is hard enough waking up and showing up for your children every day during such a life-altering experience, but Todd's treatment plan is also logistically complicated for their family.
Within days of diagnosis, Todd was starting treatment at VGH. Kelly has been travelling back and forth almost daily to be there supporting her husband, with a 7-month-old baby in tow. Even more heartbreaking, Todd is unable to have his son Kade visit, due to restrictions in the hospital for his age group. Additionally, Todd will be staying in Vancouver for the foreseeable future and may be required to stay close to the hospital for his outpatient care afterward.
In such a time of high emotions and uncertainty, the last thing we want the family to worry about is finances. While navigating new parenthood, which should be overflowing with joy and excitement, these remarkable parents are strongly walking in the shoes none of us hope to ever have to wear.
Todd will be going through treatment for the next 6 months while Kelly is on maternity leave caring for their baby Abby. They will have many expenses to cover in the foreseeable future from accommodations, gas for travel, monthly bills, and medication expenses for Todd's treatment.
In hopes of helping this very deserving family in a time of need, I have decided to do a fundraising run. My goal is to run 50 kilometers on February 25th. The family and I would be forever grateful for any donation you would be able to make. Every little bit helps. If you aren't able to donate, you could still help by sharing their story.
Thank you so much for the support!
