Sebby started kinder this week—and we are so, so proud of him. From day one, he has shown us what true strength and resilience look like. He approaches the world with curiosity, determination, and the biggest heart, reminding us that joy isn’t the absence of challenges in life.
This milestone is filled with both joy and grief.
Walking away from him at kinder brought back a wave of memories — leaving him in the NICU, driving home with an empty car seat, a feeling that words can’t fully capture.
Despite being full-term, Sebby faced multiple diagnoses that required urgent medical care at birth. Our time at The Royal Women’s and The Royal Children’s Hospitals was filled with uncertainty, machines, and waiting—sometimes even for something as simple as a chair.
When your baby is in the NICU, all you want is to hold them. But for parents of babies connected to life-saving machines, that depends on having a chair to sit in.
The NICU nurses are earth angels, doing everything they can to support families. But some things, like the availability of recliners, are out of their control.
There were times we waited hours for a chair, making it impossible to hold Sebby when he needed it most. And we weren’t the only ones.
This April, I’m running 5K in the Run for the Kids to raise funds for something close to my heart: providing recliners for NICU families—because no parent should have to wait for the chance to hold their baby.
Every dollar raised will go toward ensuring NICU families have a comfortable space to be close to their child during those critical moments.
If this resonates with you, here’s how you can help:
⭐ Donate – Any amount, big or small, makes a difference.
⭐ Share – Even if you can’t donate, spreading the word helps us reach more people.
⭐ Support – If you know a NICU family, check in on them. Their pain isn’t linear, and sometimes the smallest gestures mean the most.
Milestones like this remind me how far we’ve come and we want to help other NICU families feel supported in those early, vulnerable days.
Thank you for reading this far and for helping turn our experience into something that makes a difference ♥️
