Run for RISE

Donation protected
Hi

Ciaran here from Beech Hill College, Monaghan. I have decided to do the Dublin Marathon to raise funds for the RISE autism class in the school. The RISE class has been in operation since 2021 and has proven to be a wonderful asset to our school.

RISE (Raising Independence through Support in Education) is dedicated to creating a supportive and nurturing learning environment for students with autism, tailored to their individual needs. In our RISE Class, we focus on integration and inclusion by working closely with the broader school community, ensuring students receive a personalised and joyful educational experience.

Our classroom is a lively, colourful, and welcoming space, equipped with diverse resources such as a sensory room and an outdoor play area. These support systems enable students to thrive within an inclusive, differentiated timetable, allowing them to engage in various subjects like English, Numeracy, Life Skills, Science, Social Skills, Film Studies, and Physical Education.

The fundraiser will help us to enhance the resources and opportunities available to our students, both within the school and beyond, thus further developing the students' social and educational experiences.

Also doing the run are the Larkin brothers with whom I completed the Dublin marathon in 2019. Adrian and Damien are serious athletes and are now taking the younger brother Shane under their wing. The slowest of the three brothers has agreed to donate €100 to the RISE class. Very generous. They are raising money for Monaghan Special Olympics which can be found on a separate Go Fund ME page.

Thanks in advance,

Ciaran
