Hello. We are firefighters from Tyne & Wear Fire & Rescue Service. We will be running non stop in a relay from Gateshead Fire station, to the Angel of the north and back continuously for 24hrs in support of our good colleagues daughter who was born early at 24 weeks weighing only 630g. We were so touched & inspired by her story that we plan to take Esmae's bravery and determination and use it to help us complete our run and help her as much as we can

Here is her story

Born at just 24 weeks and 4 days, weighing only 630g, Esmae came into the world far earlier than anyone could have imagined.

Her start in life was incredibly difficult— in her earliest days, she faced unimaginable challenges, including bilateral grade 3 brain bleeds, sepsis, infections, and hydrocephalus (including multiple brain surgeries). From the very beginning, she has shown extraordinary strength, courage and determination.

Now 17 months old (13 months corrected), Esmae continues to fight every single day. She is our little warrior—resilient, brave, and full of spirit. Every smile, every bit of progress, and every small movement is something we celebrate.

*Why We Need Your Help?*

At this crucial stage in Esmae’s development, early and consistent physiotherapy is vital to help strengthen the neural pathways that support her movement and future independence.

Right now, she receives NHS physiotherapy around once a month, sometimes less. While we are incredibly grateful for this support, it simply isn’t enough to give her the best possible chance to reach key milestones.

Intensive, regular physiotherapy could be life-changing for Esmae, helping to improve her:

* Independence
