About Education Bridge

Founded in 2015, Education Bridge is a nonprofit organization committed to empowering young people in South Sudan, through holistic education, to end poverty and violent conflict in their communities. The organization builds and operates a growing network of secondary schools, and provides in-service teacher training for primary school teachers.

The schools provide access to quality secondary education, innovative peace education and youth leadership development to young people between the age of 14-20 years. Education Bridge believes that an educated and empowered generation of leaders and peacemakers will address the pressing challenges of today and drive lasting peace and prosperity in the country.

Impact to Date

In 2021, the first school in Bor was ranked the top performing school in the entire country by national examinations, and has consistently ranked amongst top schools over the years. 50% of Education Bridge's graduates go on to university, compared to a national 1% transition rate. In just a few years, Education Bridge has seen alumni attend some of the most prestigious and competitive higher education opportunities, including the University of Notre Dame, Stanford University, UNC Chapel Hill (including receipt of the Morehead Cain Scholarship), United World Colleges and African Leadership Academy.

While we are only in the early stages of being able to evaluate life outcomes and the impact of our alumni’s leadership in South Sudan, we are immensely proud to see so many of our graduates launch important community development projects in South Sudan and take on community leadership roles. We believe that as we continue to grow, we will continue to see momentous changes in South Sudan.
