Run for Dante

Hello everyone. My name is Vince. In December 2020, my good friend Angelo and his wife Desiree welcomed a beautiful set of twins into the world, a boy named Dante and a girl named Alaya. After a few months, Dante was found to have a rare syndrome named 5q14.3. So rare in fact, that he is only the 80th person in the world to be diagnosed with this rare syndrome. I had previously become aware of rare disesases through my wife's family, as two family members have cystic fibrosis. With this knowledge, I know how much Angelo and Desiree have tirelessly and continuously supported their son to ensure he receives his different kinds of therapy to ensure his development and growth.

Dante's gene deletion causes low muscle tone (hypertonia), which also causes his motor delay. To assist with Dante's daily mobility and gait development, he currently uses a Rifton pacer. Angelo and Desiree are also looking to get a hold of an attachment made by Trexo Robotics.

Angelo has been a great friend since I met him in grade 9. He never judged me, acted condescending towards me, or used me in any way. He was always a genuine person with me and to those around me. He works non-stop for his family and would die for them. I'm beyond words to tell the world that he is my friend and how much of a great father, husband, and man he has become.

Due to the costs and the equipment Dante uses, there is quite a bit of financial pressure on Angelo's end. To give you a figure, Angelo and Desiree have the option of renting the pacer for $1000 a month or to rent it for 3 years straight and also receive the option to purchase it.  Between the pacer and the attachment, it will be around $40k to invest into the equipment.  

On August 14 2022, I will be running my own marathon route to raise money for Dante and promote awareness of rare diseases. I hope to get this out to as many people as possible and help me out. The run will begin from Nofrills in Tottenham and end at Father Bressani.
