It is that time of year again! On 3rd November 2024, Joe and I are running the NYC marathon and raising money to benefit Sammy's Senior Sanctuary, an NJ Nonprofit Corporation.
Joe and I founded Sammy's Senior Sanctuary in 2022 to provide shelter and care for sick and abandoned senior dogs who have medical conditions and require long-term medical or hospice care. We strive to provide these special animals with the caring and loving forever home they greatly deserve.
2024 has been another tough but rewarding year. We have lost 5 dogs year to date. However rescue never stops and we have also been blessed with ten wonderful additions, two of which were hospice and only with us for a short time. Meet two of our most recent additions, Gregory and Pastina.
Gregory is a 14 year old Shih Tzu who is deaf and blind. He was in very bad shape when we got him, and it appeared he had given up. Since we brought him into Sammy's Senior Sanctuary he has perked up tremendously and is adjusting beautifully to the good life. Gregory received extensive medical care and it is amazing what time and a little TLC will do. He is doing wonderfully and now has some much-needed pep in his step.
Pastina is a very recent addition and not our typical resident. She is the youngest member of the crew. However, she has paralyzed back legs, is fecally incontinent and needs to have her bladder expressed so she definitely requires a lot of medical care. Joe and I have had to learn some new skills to support Pastina. Everything is now under control and she has settled in great with the rest of the gang.
This adorable pair look forward to living the rest of their time at Sammy's Senior Sanctuary.
Finally worth mentioning is Biscuit. The little guy in the cover photo. This 4lb ball of fluff was only with us for a short period of time but he absolutely stole our hearts. We are so grateful that we got to take care of him and that we were able to give him the love and attention that he truly deserved.
Thanks in advance for contributing to this cause, which means so much to Joe and me.
